Scholarships

Our fellowships and scholarships are designed to give outstanding Australians an opportunity to further their education at Harvard. They also fund Harvard professors to come to Australia to work on collaborative projects with Australian researchers.
Our Scholarships and Fellowships include:

  • The R.G. Menzies Scholarship – an annual award since 1967 of up to US$60,000 to fund postgraduate study by Australian Citizens at Harvard University;

  • The Australia-Harvard Fellowships – funding to support the interchange of senior researchers between Harvard University and leading research institutions in Australia;

  • The Non-profit Fellowships – an annual fellowship that enables two Australian non-profit leaders to attend the highly regarded one-week program: Strategic Perspectives in Non Profit Management at Harvard Business School;

  • The Roberta Sykes Scholarships – funding to enable School Principals leading schools with a high proportion of Indigenous pupils or who are themselves indigenous, to attend the Principals Centre in Australia. The Roberta Sykes Indigenous Education Foundation also offers funding for a postgraduate study tour of leading international universities; and scholarships for post graduate study overseas. 

  • The Public Education Foundation’s Harvard Club of Australia Education Scholarship enables government primary or secondary school principals to attend a short professional program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

  • Scholarships for the Principals Centre in Australia - Scholarships are available to Principals leading government schools in disadvantaged communities and/or regional and remote parts of Australia to attend the Principals Centre in Sydney.   • The Wolfensohn Scholarship - enables senior Australian public servants to undertake an executive education program at the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS), the world’s leading school of Government.  The Scholarship is intended to support the design and delivery of good public policy in Australia.

  • The Clive Gard Scholarship - for Members of the Harvard Club of Australia to win a fully funded place at the HCA Leadership Program

There are a number of other scholarships available to Australians intending to undertake a program of study at Harvard University. These include:

  • Harvard Club of Victoria Non Profit Fellowships - The Harvard Club of Victoria provides funding for CEO's of non-profit organisations based in Victoria to attend the one week Harvard Business School program Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management ("SPNM")
  • Frank Knox Memorial Fellowships - funding for students from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom for graduate study at Harvard

  • Sir John Monash postgraduate scholarships awarded to outstanding Australians with leadership potential who wish to study overseas.

  • The Commonwealth Fund's Harkness Fellowships in Health Care Policy and Practice provide a unique opportunity for mid-career health services researchers to spend up to 12 months in the United States, conducting original research and working with leading U.S. health policy experts.

  • The Fulbright Program is the flagship foreign exchange scholarship program of the United States of America, aimed at increasing binational research collaboration.

  • Rotary International offers scholarship funding for postgraduate study overseas.

  • The Gough Whitlam and Malcolm Fraser Chair in Australian studies provides funding for Australian academics to teach and research while resident at Harvard.
