Michael Mamet
The Queensland Harvard Club invites members, associates, and guests to our next event featuring Michel Mamet (Harvard Business School GMP 2022). The event will be on Wednesday, 19 August, commencing midday at the Tattersalls Club, and includes a two‑course meal with beverages. Seating is limited to 16, so early booking is encouraged.
Michel will share insights from his Harvard journey and discuss the global energy and resources sector through the lens of current geopolitical tensions—including the Iran conflict—and the implications for Queensland and Australia. At the time of the event, Michel will have just returned from an investor conference in the United States and Harvard, which will enable him to provide an up‑to‑date perspective on emerging issues in this space.
Attendees are encouraged to join the conversation—just as we did back at Harvard—by offering their own perspectives on a topic that increasingly affects every part of our economy and society.
Michel brings more than 25 years of expertise in global energy, resources, and infrastructure, with a strong track record in investment strategy, capital allocation, and high‑conviction decision‑making.
His career began in global investment banking, spending a decade at Credit Suisse, UBS, and Morgan Stanley across Australia and the United States.
Initially a generalist, Michel soon specialised in energy and resources, developing deep insight into global markets. In 2009, he joined the founding team at Flagstaff
Partners, a leading independent advisory firm in Melbourne, where he served as Managing Director and Partner for over a decade. He advised institutional clients and corporates on strategy, M&A, capital markets, and long‑term capital deployment—capabilities directly relevant to fund management. His clients included BHP, Orica, Jemena, Mineral Deposits, Veolia, Eastern Star Gas, and ANZ, among others.
After relocating to Brisbane post‑COVID and completing the HBS GMP program, Michel has pursued an entrepreneurial path—first in financial education and now through the launch of GERAF (Gold, Energy and Resources Alpha Fund), an investment fund based in Brisbane.
