An Evening with Major General Jason Blain, DSC, AM, CSC

 

The Harvard Club Australia ACT Chapter will host an event on Wednesday, 30 July, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the National Press Club in Canberra.

Our distinguished guest speaker will be Major General Jason Blain, DSC, AM, CSC, currently serving as Head Land Systems, Department of Defence. He will speak on Australia’s National Defence Strategy, Defence Policy, and opportunities for Industry—a timely and compelling topic for our members and guests.

 

Major General Jason Blain, DSC, AM, CSC, has had a distinguished career spanning over three decades, commanding at every level within the Royal Australian Regiment, including as Commanding Officer of 6RAR and Commander of the 7th Brigade. His extensive operational experience includes deployments to East Timor, Malaysia, and Afghanistan, where he led Mentoring Task Force One and served as Deputy Commander of Combined Team Uruzgan, earning the Distinguished Service Cross. He has held key strategic appointments, such as establishing Diggerworks to revolutionize soldier combat systems and advising the Prime Minister on defence and intelligence matters during two secondments to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. His leadership in capability development as Director General Force Options and Plans, along with his significant contributions to Defence policy and international engagement, led to his appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia in 2022. He currently serves as Head of Land Systems, overseeing critical capability for the Australian Army.
