John de Groot has been a regular at many of the club events over the years. But who would have thought that we have a champion Goat Racer in our midst?

John is one of Australia’s leading specialists in Succession Law and author of a number of publications on the subject. For many years John was the Director of Legal Practice of the Law Faculty at the Queensland University of Technology, having responsibility for the faculty’s practical legal training programs for graduates seeking admission as solicitors or barristers in the State. Among his many accomplishments, he is a Past President of the Queensland Law Society, Adjunct Professor at the T. C. Beirne School of Law at the University of Queensland, a Former Chair and current Member of the Queensland Community Foundation and a Member of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law.

As an author of many publications, he is the author of “Memoirs of a Goat Racer.. and more” describing his upbringing, living in Barcaldine and his becoming a goat racing champion.

Please join the club members and guests at the Brisbane Club cellar for an evening with John sharing stories of his journey, the many colourful characters he encountered and the true secret of “Home Advantage”.

*To allow attendees to sample the wines of the cellar alcoholic beverages will be charged after the event on consumption.
